The OSI-funded project

The Unison-led Coalition of 6 NGOs has completed implementation of the OSI-funded project “Manifesto: Right to Decide”. The project included a nation-wide public awareness campaign devoted to the rights and needs of people with intellectual disabilities. Within the framework of the project, the Coalition conducted a workshop for mass media representatives, 2 roundtable discussions with participation of representatives of international human rights organizations and local NGOs, state authorities responsible for the field, as well as principals of special schools. An artwork contest among children with mental disabilities was also held. More than 200 paintings and applied art works were presented. The Jury selected 10 best works in 2 nominations. Their authors were awarded prizes. All the participants of the contest received small souvenirs. During the project implementation, the Coalition produced a TV-clip, a leaflet, a booklet and a poster.

Along with other materials, they were included in the information package and distributed among all the main stakeholders operating in the field of mental disability. All the project activities were widely covered by mass media.
