Winners of 5th Beauty Contest Announced

In order to celebrate the Women’s Month in Armenia, Unison NGO held the 5th National Beauty Photo Contest of Women with Disabilities under the slogan “Miss Beauty 2010”. The purpose of the action was to challenge the societal stereotypes related to persons with disabilities and demonstrate that disability does not prevent girls and women from being beautiful and active members of society.
71 women with disabilities from Yerevan, all 10 marzes of Armenia, as well as Akhalkalaki (Georgia) and Los-Angeles (USA) participated in the contest.

The winners of the contest are:

Gran-Prix – Miss Beauty 2010 – Angela Avagyan (Stepanavan)
1st Prize – Vice-Miss 2010 – Meline Ghazaryan (Yerevan)
2nd Prize – Miss Charm 2010 – Janetta Hayrapetyan (Yerevan)
3rd Prize – Miss Smile 2010 – Arshaluys Boyajyan (Gyumri)

5 other prizes as well as one special prize, Unison’s Sympathy, were also awarded.

The jury included distinguished figures:
Armen Marutyan, Honored Artist of Armenia (Jury Chairman)
Arsen Grigoryan (Mro), Honored Artist of Armenia
Arthur Bakhtamyan, Honored Journalist of Armenia

On 7 April 2010, the Prize-Giving Ceremony of the contest was held in the Komitas Chamber Music Hall.

The Ceremony was part of the World Vision Armenia project “Building DPO outreach for greater inclusiveness” funded by USAID.
Paros Foundation (USA) also supported this event.
