Miss Hayq 2014

2014-04-05

On April 5, the Final Show of Miss Hayq 2014 - the 7th National Beauty Contest of Women with Disabilities was held in Komitas Chamber Music Hall in Yerevan. 12 beauties were competing for the title of Miss Hayq and other prizes. The winner of the Beauty Contest became Qristine Piruzyan. Yerevan Municipality, Paros Foundation (USA), Zigzag, Nushikyan Association, Renoir Women’s Club, Noyan Tapan Bookstore and Barsis (represented through Mary chain stores) supported Unison NGO in the organization of the contest.

The 7th National Beauty Contest significantly differed from the previous ones. First of all, the title of the contest changed from “Miss Beauty” to “Miss Hayq”. Hayq is the ancient name of Armenia. During the course of its history, the contest has frequently crossed the Armenian borders with participants from the USA, Syria, Nagorno-Karabakh and Javakhk (Georgia). “Miss Hayq” symbolizes the return of the historical homeland of Armenians, a dream for Armenians all over the world.

The format of the competition was also changed this year. Previously the winners were selected via photos only. This year the jury comprised of Davit Minasyan (Sculptor, Chair of Jury), Hrach Muradyan (Talk Show host), Varsham Gevorgyan (Actor) and Vigen Mnoyan (Photographer) selected just the top 12 contestants through photos. The winners of the contest were selected during the final show of the contest, where the jury evaluated their appearance on stage. 58 girls and women aged 16-45 from all over Armenia participated in the “Miss Hayq 2014” Beauty Contest.

Professional stylists and make-up artists helped accentuate the beauty of the girls. Evening dresses were designed and tailored for the girls and the styles in which each participant would appear on stage were decided.

More information and photos from the final show are available on Unison Facebook page.
