Unison holds workshops on discrimination with support of Council of Europe

On March 26, April 2 and 13, Unison NGO conducted three seminars for NGOs, women with disabilities and people with disabilities within the framework of the Council of Europe-funded project "Combating Discrimination on the Grounds of Disability in Armenia." The seminars were moderated by the project director Armen Alaverdyan.
The speakers were Ara Ghazaryan, lawyer, international expert of the Council of Europe, Monica Sargsyan, Head of the Department for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the RA Human Rights Defender's Office and anti-discrimination expert Sergey Harutyunyan. Reference was made to different forms of disability discrimination and ways to overcome them. The speakers answered the participants' questions. An exchange of views took place, during which the participants shared their experiences and concerns.
The seminars took place as part of the project “Strengthening access to justice through non-judiciary redress mechanisms for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech in Eastern Partnership countries”, which is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
